I don’t usually post pictures of friends and of my life, but this is really a memorable point of my life (or rather my friends’).

These are the girls I grew up with. My closer friends from primary school minus a couple of guys. A was my bestie since primary 2, C came into my class in primary 4, and I met V in primary 5. We haven’t always been superglue-like close all the time, over these 10+ years, but good old friends we always are.

These girls are the ones I don’t have to be in contact with all the time, or to know or share every bit of our doings, and yet we are very comfortable with each other, and are still able to support each other in times of need. We’ve been through some tough periods of times together, we know of things about each other new friends would possibly never find out, we’ve had lots of wonderful memories together.

What inspired me to post this picture is that in the next couple of weeks, these girls of my life are going through something significant in their lives. A is about to pop, C is getting married and V is flying off to Switzerland for an exciting period of time. A time in our life journey to remember.

That was the performance by Hanna, the winner of Ms Pole Dance Singapore 2011, also the instructor at my first lesson about four months ago.

Seen as a sleazy stripper dance, some friends have been making derogatory remarks about me and of my relationship when they hear of my new pole dance classes. I’d usually try to explain though most don’t listen. But then again, those people aren’t really friends anyway.

Strong, elegant and beautiful, this particular performance defies the stereotypes of pole dancing. This is what I’m hoping to work my body towards. The elegance that I’ve been trained in ballet applied in another dance form.

The tears won’t stop flowing. Death is always difficult to deal with, but this time round I’m feeling so frightened by how sudden everything was and how quickly it happened. I’m afraid of the future, but this weakness can only last for the night. Very soon, I’ll have to be strong for the people I’ve grown to love.

This video is dope! The body is obviously not made for such moves though, I kept wondering if he’s going to fall over.

I usually steer clear from such roadshows… But if I did see this along the streets, I might even end up buying something =p

I never knew Saint Patrick’s Day was a Catholic holiday… People celebrate it by wearing green and drinking Guinness, it almost seemed like an excuse to have beer.

I first read about Natalie Portman being the new face for Miss Dior Cherie on Fleur De Force, and I was so excited!

Other than the fact that she’s absolutely gorgeous and that her acting is really good, I was very impressed by her role in Black Swan. If you know me well enough, you’d know of my love-hate relationship with ballet… And I felt that she acted that obsession really well. What’s more, this is also my favourite fragrance.

If I had to use a word to describe the entire campaign…. It would have to be enchanting.

I thought this was going to be one of the typical women empowerment videos for the International Women’s Day (8 March), boy was I wrong. I never realised that women from the past would have such an impact on my everyday life. Can you imagine not having the water heater, or worse, windscreen wipers?

A slight side track about working women..
Just yesterday, I was talking to my bestie (she’s my age, working at a MNC and pregnant) about how tough it is to have a family in Singapore. There are so many costs involved. Paying off University loans, getting married, buying a new home and subsequently paying for the housing loan for many years, having a child which also includes pregnancy, growing up and education costs.

It seems impossible to not have a full-time salaried job, yet I don’t want my future kids to grow up without their parents. I have no idea how my parents did it..

When I first watched the videos, I was struck by how the various cultures stood out very strongly. It made me want to travel. I felt the itch to feel the culture for myself. I wanted to see the sights, taste the food, hear the sounds, feel the difference.

And then I found out that this was an ad campaign for a language school. It’s a very fresh perspective. More than wanting to teach the languages, Education First is portraying the image of living the language. I’ve never heard of this international language centre, but it has worked its way into my brain.

I remember growing up reading Archie comics. Set in the small town of Riverdale, Archie was always unable to choose between Betty and Veronica. There was also Jughead who was always concerned about food and annoying Reggie who was conceited.

The characters are well-known and well-liked by many, but in my opinion, this video brings it to an all-time high. 

A movie trailer for a fictional Archie comics film. You can immediately recognise familiar comics characters, yet the setting is no longer an innocent high school, but a darker reality. And the trailer was made with only a budget of $3500 over one weekend with the help of 100 Craigslist volunteers.

Amazing! I would watch this movie… If it was real, of course.

This is too amazing to not share.

Kathy Spencer of Massachusetts shows how she saves money on household expenses by working her coupons.

Don’t be mistaken.. It’s not easy. Imagine spending hours sourcing for all the coupons, and not getting confused about what you can get where.

I should start paying attention to those coupons!
